QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in biology, biochemistry, forensics,
genetics or other related scientific fields. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying
experience and relevant academic/professional qualifications, such as
accreditations from military or government command and staff colleges, may be accepted in
lieu of the advanced university degree. Formal qualifications and/or certifications in forensic DNA analysis as
applied to human identification, forensic quality management systems and international standards in forensic
science (pursuant to a course of study, training and examinations of a state/national law enforcement
institution, a national military academy or a federal/national intelligence service training institution,
supplemented with professional development courses and/or certifications involving study, training and
examinations in investigatory work) in combination with four additional years of qualifying work experience
may be accepted in lieu of the first-level university degree.
Work Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience with advanced university degree (seven
years with a first-level university degree) in forensic DNA analysis as applied to human identification and
multi-disciplinary human identification projects, knowledge of forensic quality management systems and
international standards in forensic science. Experience in the design and delivery of frameworks applicable to
learning and development and conduct of capacity and needs assessments is an asset. Experience working in
the geographical region of operations is desirable.
Languages: For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of a second
official UN language (Arabic) is an advantage.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in law, police management, law enforcement, security studies, criminal justice, business or public administration, human resources management, change management, or related area. Specialized training in the area of incumbent’s responsibility (operations, reform, administration, training) is highly desirable. Graduation from a certified Police Academy or other national or international Law Enforcement Training Institution is required.
Work Experience: A minimum of 7 years (9 years in absence of advanced degree) of progressively relevant and active policing service/experience in a national or international law enforcement agency both at the field and national police headquarters level - required; 5 years of active police experience at policy making level with strategic planning and management experience in one or few of the following areas: police operations, human and financial resources management, crime management, police administration, police training and development, change management (particularly in law enforcement), reform and restructuring or related field - required; practical direct experience in commanding a regional or a state level police units, - required. Previous UN or international experience is an advantage.
Rank: Rank required for a P-4 is Police Superintendent/Lieutenant-Colonel, equivalent or above.
Languages: French and English are the working languages of the UN. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written French is required. Knowledge of English is highly desirable.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Graduation from Police College or Academy or other recognized law enforcement educational institution is required. Specialized training in related field and qualification from a recognized university is highly desirable.
Work Experience: A minimum of 10 years of active policing experience in national or international law enforcement is required, including at least 5 years in the areas of police project management; administration; strategic planning and implementation and/or in coordination. Training experience in one of the areas above is an asset. Experience in a command or strategic level position with exposure to one or more of the following subjects is an advantage: liaison, coordination, oversight, Human Rights, weapons and ammunition management, electoral security, anti-corruption, human resources, logistics, finance, diplomatic police, border management, special operations, crowd-and-riot-control, gender and/or countering serious and organized crime. Experience in UN peacekeeping missions or working with other international organizations is desirable.
Languages: For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of a second official UN language (Arabic) is an advantage.
Assessment for Mission Service: All candidates should be cleared through an Assessment for Mission Service (AMS) either by a Selection Assistance and Assessment Team (SAAT) deployed to a Member State or on the basis of an in-mission AMS upon arrival of the candidates. Failure to pass the in-mission assessment will result in candidate’s repatriation. All repatriation related expenses in this case are to be borne by the Member State. Therefore, the Member States are strongly encouraged to request a SAAT to conduct an AMS in the Member State prior to the police personnel deployment.

Preference will be given to equally qualified women candidates.
